Block User Policy

Your personal filter for anyone you'd rather not see or hear from on AYE Market.

Last updated: July 17, 2026 ยท Version 1.0

This policy explains how the Block feature works on AYE Market. Blocking is a private tool you control yourself; it's separate from Reporting, which flags a problem to our moderators. See our Reporting & Moderation Policy for the reporting side, and use both together when a situation calls for it.

1. How blocking works

To block someone, open their seller profile and select Block. You'll be asked to confirm in a dialog before the block takes effect, so it isn't triggered by accident. Once confirmed, the block applies immediately and is stored against your account, tied to that specific user.

2. What blocking hides and prevents

Blocking is a filter on your own view of AYE Market โ€” it does not remove the blocked person's account, listings, or activity from the platform for other users.

3. How to unblock someone

Go to Settings โ†’ Blocked Users to see everyone you've blocked and remove the block at any time. Unblocking restores their listings to your feeds and allows them to message you again, exactly as if you had never blocked them.

4. Blocking is private and one-directional

Blocking is a personal, one-directional action: it only changes what you see and who can reach you. The person you block is never notified that you've blocked them, and blocking them does not affect what they can see of their own listings or activity on the platform. It's yours to use freely, without needing to justify it to anyone.

5. Blocking doesn't erase past messages

Blocking someone stops new messages โ€” it does not retroactively delete a chat history you already had with them. Existing conversations remain in your chat list unless you separately delete them. If you also want a conversation reviewed for a violation, use Report in addition to Block.

6. Block vs. Report

BlockReport
PurposePersonal filter โ€” stop seeing/hearing from someoneFlags content or conduct to human moderators
Visible to the other user?No โ€” silentNo โ€” anonymous to protect the reporter
Affects other users' view of them?NoPossibly โ€” if moderators take enforcement action
Undoable?Yes, anytime via SettingsNo โ€” a submitted report stands as a record

They're not mutually exclusive: you can Block someone for your own peace of mind and Report them separately if their conduct violated our Community Guidelines.

7. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and forms part of the agreement described in our Terms of Service.
