This Buyer Policy applies to every account when it's browsing listings, messaging sellers, saving favorites, or applying to jobs on AYE Market โ€” whether that's your Buyer role or your Job Seeker role. It works alongside our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

1. Who this applies to

You take on the buyer role every time you contact a seller, save a listing, or browse a category โ€” no separate signup is needed since AYE Market runs on one multi-role account. Job Seekers applying to postings in the Jobs category are also covered by this policy in sections 6 and 7.

2. Honest communication

Message sellers honestly and follow through on agreements you make in good faith โ€” if you agree to meet, buy, or collect an item, do your best to honor it or tell the seller promptly if plans change. Use in-app chat, or the Call, WhatsApp, and SMS buttons a seller has enabled, for genuine buyer interest, not to waste a seller's time, run scams, or extract information you plan to misuse.

3. Inspect before you pay

Inspect an item in person and confirm it matches the listing โ€” photos, condition, and description โ€” before you pay or hand over money. AYE Market does not process in-app payments between buyers and sellers; every exchange of money happens directly between the two of you, off-platform, so the inspection is your safeguard, not ours. See our Safety Center for safe-meetup guidance.

4. No-guarantee disclaimer

AYE Market is a venue, not a party to your transaction. We don't inspect items before they're listed, we don't guarantee any seller's honesty, and we don't guarantee any listing's accuracy, availability, or condition. Verified badges reflect that a person's identity document was reviewed by a moderator โ€” they are not a guarantee of the quality of what that person sells.

5. Favorites & saved searches

Use Favorites and saved searches to track listings and categories you're genuinely interested in. Don't use these tools, or repeated messaging they generate, to harvest seller contact details for purposes unrelated to buying โ€” including solicitation, advertising unrelated services, or building contact lists.

6. Job-application honesty

When you apply to a job posting or post a Jobs Wanted ad, use your genuine identity, your genuine CV, and describe your genuine skills and availability. Do not apply using a fabricated identity, someone else's credentials, or false qualifications. Employers rely on the honesty of applicants the same way buyers rely on the honesty of sellers.

7. Harassment is prohibited

Do not use messaging, reviews, or job applications to harass, threaten, discriminate against, or abuse a seller or employer โ€” including after a deal falls through or an application is rejected. Persistent unwanted contact after a seller has declined to continue a conversation is harassment, and is enforced the same way regardless of who initiated the original conversation.

8. Reporting & blocking tools

If a seller or employer behaves dishonestly, abusively, or suspiciously, you can Report their listing or profile (choosing from eight specific reasons) and separately Block them to stop them appearing in your feeds and messaging you โ€” see our Reporting & Moderation Policy and Block User Policy for how each works.

9. Enforcement

Violations of this policy are handled under the same enforcement ladder as seller violations: a first minor issue typically gets a warning; harassment, fraud attempts, and fake job applications can lead to listing/message removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account suspension for serious or repeated conduct. See the Community Guidelines for the full ladder.

10. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and forms part of the agreement described in our Terms of Service.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as AYE Market's buyer-facing tools evolve. Material changes are reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and version above.
